Things to do Gainesville: Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway!

June 19, 2012 · No Comments

The dinosaurs have come to Gainesville at the Florida Museum of Natural History.  Everyone will enjoy seeing celebrated artist Ray Troll’s depiction of early life on Earth.  Along with information from Paleontologist Kirk Johnson, you will learn about early life on planet Earth.  This exhibit has 30 fossils including a complete skeleton cast of the three-horned Triceratops, dinosaur and Albertosaurus.  Through Troll’s color prints and large-scale murals you can experience dinosaurs as you never have before.

As you stroll through the exhibit you will also be able to observe Florida Museum scientists in a functioning paleontology lab preparing fossils collected during research projects from around the world.  This exhibit will help you better understand the evolution of dinosaurs and what might have lead to their extinction.  There will also be times while the exhibit is in Gainesville where you will be able to ask questions of the scientists about the fossils and the work they are doing in the lab.

Enjoy this exhibit this summer before it cruises out of Gainesville!
